FAQ (Frequently asked questions)
On this page, you will find important information to start your child's school year off on the right foot. As always, if you have any other questions, please feel free to email me or phone me at the school.
What does my child need to bring to class?
Your child MUST bring:
- a backpack/lunch bag
- indoor and outdoor shoes (make sure to also bring a pair of running shoes to be used in gym class)
- school uniform to be worn every day except on non-uniform days (these will be communicated to parents)
Additionally, the following items are not required but may come in handy:
- pencil case with supplies (pencils, pencil crayons, crayons, erasers, etc.)
- box of kleenex (for entire class use)
- scissors
- glue stick
- 1 inch binder
All other supplies (notebooks, duotangs, etc.) will be provided by the school.
**We highly recommend that students bring an extra change of clothes. Accidents happen!**
What is the school's daily schedule?
- Entry bell: 8:55 AM
- 1st recess: 10:20 - 10:35 AM
- Lunch: 11:55 AM - 12:10 PM
- Lunch recess: 12:10 - 12:55 PM
- 2nd recess: 1:15 - 1:30 PM
Students will have snacks before 1st and 2nd recess.
How do I contact the teacher?
This year, we will be using your child's agenda, this website and an app called School Messenger for home/school communication (more information on the School Messenger app will be sent home in the coming weeks). Every morning, students will write a message in their agendas to communicate what is happening in the classroom. Additionally, messages will be sent on School Messenger to communicate time-sensitive information.
** Due to recent changes in school board policy, we will only be using Class Dojo in the classroom as a points based incentive. School Messenger will be the platform our school/class will be using for instant messaging.

If I need to pick up my child early from school, how do I let you know?
Please make sure to write down any changes in your child's end of day routine in your child's agenda. It is also a good idea to inform the office of any changes so that they can inform me before the end of the day. I do not check my email or messages during instructional time, so please write in your child's agenda to make sure I get the message in time.
What are the uniform requirements at St. Anthony?
Please refer to the following file for uniform information:
Uniform Policy
Uniform guidelines are strict and must be adhered to unless it is a non-uniform day. Non-uniform days are typically the last Friday of every month unless otherwise specified.
How do I pay for field trips and pizza lunches?
St. Anthony's is very excited to be going cashless! Online payments are quick and easy. Just go to the "Online Payments" section on the left sidebar and you will be prompted for your payment information.
Can I bring in treats for the class for my child's birthday?
Please be aware that the London District Catholic School Board has implemented a healthy snacks policy which means we unfortunately cannot distribute sweets to students unless it is a treat day as specified by the board. If you would like to bring in a celebratory birthday snack, please make sure that it is healthy (e.g. fruit and cheese trays, apple sauce, etc.) and that it does not contain any nuts.
What if I don't speak French? Can I still help my child with his/her French learning?
Yes! No knowledge of French is required for your child to be successful in the French immersion program. In fact, a majority of parents of children in the French immersion program do not speak French or speak a minimal amount of French. The program is designed for a gradual acquisition of oral language which facilitates the development of reading and writing skills.
I highly recommend taking a look at the French Immersion Parent Toolkit on the left sidebar for a list of useful phrases that your child will be using in French class. Additionally, apps and websites such as DuoLingo and Boukili are great tools to practice French vocabulary. You can download DuoLingo onto any mobile device or go to the website by clicking the link below. Boukili is available on any computer or mobile device. Both of these resources will be options for the grade 3 homework program (see next section for more info).

When will the homework program start?
The grade 3 homework program will start the second week of September. More information will be sent home in the coming days.
Birthday party invitations
It is highly recommended that students distribute birthday party invitations discreetly and on their own time during the day (during eating breaks or recesses). It is your child’s responsibility to distribute any birthday invitations as teachers are busy delivering the curriculum or working with students.
